Let’s face it, there are a ton of food bloggers and recipe creators out there, especially when it comes to the health and wellness space – and I don’t think it’s going to slow down any time soon. I myself, am not a recipe creator – I am more of a recipe follower. I look to the internet a lot to find healthy, whole food, recipes for me and my family. I really got into this when I was learning about the paleo lifestyle and prepping for my first Whole30. I needed the recipes to be easy to follow and that three very picky eaters would at least try – I’m still working on that.

I have found a handful of bloggers that I really relate to, not just about food, but their philosophies and overall approach to health and wellness. My favorite thing about these women – they’re all women – is they don’t take themselves too seriously. Yes, they eat clean, whole-foods, but they also give themselves room to indulge, skip workouts, and have no problem admitting when they’re having a bad day or that they don’t have their sh!t together.

These women have built amazing businesses for themselves and have a very strong voice in the wellness space. If you feel like you need some inspiration in the lifestyle and recipe department, here’s a list of my favorite blogger/recipe creators I follow via blog and Instagram – Enjoy!

Paleo Running Momma

Michelle’s recipes are easy to follow with minimal ingredients and steps. She has a wide variety of recipes and notes the dietary lifestyle they fall into (Whole30, Paleo, Low FODMAP, etc).

My favorite recipes are the Loaded Sweet Potato Skillet, Paleo Sloppy Joe Stuffed Sweet Potatoes, Beef and Broccoli Easy Stir Fry, Easy Apple Cinnamon Paleo Hot Cereal, and Easy Homemade Apple Chicken Sausage.

She has also created some amazing sweets too! She’s an avid runner who understands balance when it comes to working out and food.

Physical Kitchness

Chrissa combines yummy, yet simple Whole30 and paleo recipes and workouts for anyone with little time in their day. She has hectic days filled with running her business as well as being a mom of two boys while her husband is deployed. She’s got a great sense of humor and is not afraid to put herself out there and let her followers know how crazy her life is. She’s also a HIIT and Barre instructor and has workouts that are really easy to follow available online. Some of my faves are Whole30 Sloppy Joe Bowls, Slow Cooker Pork Carnitas, and Whole30 Baked Buffalo Chicken Meatballs.

The Whole Smiths

Michelle started her blog with her family’s health in mind. Once they realized how great they felt eating paleo, they stuck to it, but they also know that life happens and they can certainly indulge from time to time. Her Instagram stories are always lively and inspiring – and she often includes her kids in her posts which makes them feel apart of their eating choices! Some of my favorites from The Whole Smiths are – Chipotle Lime Butternut Squash, and Spaghetti Squash Bolognese. I can’t wait to try her Broccoli Ranch Chicken Baked Potatoes from her new cookbook that is due to come out soon!

The Real Food Dietitians

Meet Jessica (living in Boulder) and Stacie (living right here in Minnesota). Similar to my other favorites, the recipes you will find are made with whole foods and are a great support for the paleo and the Whole30 lifestyle. These ladies introduced me to one dish meals, which if you ask me are the best. The Chipotle Turkey and Sweet Potato Chili is delicious and a nice twist on your typical chili. The Buffalo Chicken Stuffed Spaghetti Squash and Southwest Stuffed Peppers are also winners!

Fit Foodie Finds

Another Minneapolis local, Lee, lives in Minneapolis and is as real as they come (IMO). She is very open about her past relationship with food and exercise and doesn’t believe in deprivation! She’s got a ton of recipes on her site – including these Peanut Butter Cups that are WAAYYYY better for you than those Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups – have you seen what’s in those BTW? Click here to find out. Yuck!

Moving on! I discovered these amazing Sweet Potato Hash Egg Cups from Fit Foodie Finds – they are delish! While she doesn’t label herself paleo or follow the Whole30 program, there are a ton of really good compliant recipes on her site that you can find.

Oh! Having nothing to do with health and wellness other than having a dog promotes happiness and I am a nut about dogs – @misselliedood is a one of a kind golden doodle here in Minneapolis with her own Instagram account. She’s fluffy, sassy and hilarious!

Earlier I said that I am a recipe follower, but I would like to give myself a little credit for getting a little creative in the kitchen lately. Inspired by the women mentioned above and others like them, I am finding myself more at ease in a space that I was not comfortable in even a year ago.

Go take a look at these featured blogs and Instagram accounts!  And, I’d love to hear who and where you get your inspiration from – food or otherwise!

P.S. I used to sign up to get blogger updates sent to my inbox but that turned my inbox into a cluttered mess, so now I use Bloglovin’ – an app and website that allows you to follow blogs and will send you a daily email with any new blog posts from whoever you follow – much more manageable!
